ARCO Worldwide Services is recruiting a responsible Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer for a full time job at their office in Lagos. Before we show you how to apply, kindly see what you need to know about the job role below.
About the job
- We are seeking a responsible Health, Safety and Environment Officer to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) guidelines.
- As the HSE Officer, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining effective health, safety, and environmental programs to ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations.
- You will work closely with all levels of the organization to promote a proactive HSE culture, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Your role will involve conducting audits, inspections, and investigations, as well as providing training and guidance to employees on HSE policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement HSE policies, procedures, and guidelines in accordance with relevant aviation regulations, industry best practices, and company standards.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, non-compliance issues, and areas for improvement.
- Analyze safety data, incident reports, and trend analysis to identify recurring issues and develop strategies for prevention.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conduct risk assessments and implement controls to mitigate risks associated with aviation operations.
- Coordinate and participate in incident investigations, ensuring accurate root cause analysis and timely implementation of corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver HSE training programs to enhance employee awareness, knowledge, and compliance with safety protocols.
- Monitor compliance with HSE regulations and standards, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and fostering a proactive safety culture.
- Stay updated on new and evolving HSE regulations, guidelines, and industry practices relevant to the aviation industry.
- Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on HSE-related matters, promoting a positive and safe work environment.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to HSE activities and ensure timely submission to regulatory bodies.
Requirements
- B.Sc. Degree in Safety Management, Engineering or a relevant field is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Health, Safety and Environment Officer.
- 3 – 5 years post-NYSC work experience in the Oil and Gas/Aviation industry preferred
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Diligent with great attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics.
- Working knowledge of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations / ICAO / FAA and EASA standards.
- NEBOSH Diploma or General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety is a MUST.
- Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
- Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety
- Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
- Proficient in MS Office; Working knowledge of safety management information systems is a plus
