The National Museums and Heritage Act, No. 6 of 2006, an Act of Parliament, created the National Museums of Kenya (NMK), a state company.
Kenya’s past and contemporary cultural and natural heritage are collected, preserved, studied, documented, and presented by this multidisciplinary institution.
This is done to increase awareness of, respect for, and sustainable use of natural resources for Kenya and the benefit of the entire world, both now and in the future.

Requirements for NMK Recruitment 2023
Those applying for the positions of “Director General” should take note of the requirements below.
- Have a minimum of fifteen (15) years relevant working experience inclusive of managerial experience; five (5) of which must have been a Research Scientist or an equivalent position in a reputable research organization;
- Have an earned Doctorate degree or equivalent qualification from a University recognised in Kenya, in a field of research relevant to NMK’s mandate;
- Have published at least seven (7) scientific articles in peer review scientific journals as a first author;
- Have demonstrated success in generating research funds for the specified area of study of not less than $ 200,000;
- Have organized at least seven (7) seminars and workshops; and
- Have shown exemplary administrative and leadership capabilities.

- Basically, candidate applying should be a Kenyan
- He or she should possess acceptable means of identification like National Identity Card, Drivers License or Certificate of Origin
- Candidate applying should have Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) of at least mean grade “C+” (Plus) or its equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree in social science in any of the following disciplines, Human Resource Management, Personnel Management, Industrial Relations and other related field of study, or equivalent from a recognized university
